LISLE, IL — Lisle Trustee Sara Sadat heralded in the holiday season by giving back to the community. Sadat donated her monthly village stipend to Lisle Township Food Pantry Wednesday and plans to continue to give to local nonprofits and businesses until the pandemic is over.

Sadat told Patch, "When I was receiving the check from our village I thought, 'when you elevate your business community and look out for residents, you just expand your [community's] economic base.'"

Sadat said seeing businesses and individuals struggling during the pandemic was the impetus for the donations, but did not have a way to donate directly to the Lisle Business Grant, per the current village code. Sadat is working on having the code rewritten to allow for such direct donations.

Until then, Sadat will be donating the entirety of her stipend in person. "Its entirety will go toward elevating our residents and business community.”

She added, "We have to come together and do what we can for our residents and small businesses and this is a small way I can contribute to help expand our economic base in Lisle.”
