LISLE, IL -- Lisle residents will have a chance to voice their opinions about recreational cannabis at an upcoming public meeting. The Aug. 19 meeting comes after Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed a law legalizing the sale of recreational marijuana at dispensaries starting Jan. 1, 2020.

The discussion will be held after Lisle's 7 p.m. Village Board meeting. Village officials say no policy decisions will be made during the talk, but that the"meeting will afford Village Board members and the public the opportunity to ask questions related to prospective recreational cannabis businesses opening within the [v]illage."

Nearby municipalities including Naperville and Wheaton have already taken first steps in prohibiting recreational marijuana dispensarieswithin their limits.
