Plenty of Fun to ‘Fall’ for This Season at Lisle Park District

Lisle, IL – Lisle Park District has a festive line up of fall and Halloween themed fun for all ages this October, so put together your best costume and enjoy the season to the fullest!
On Saturday, October 5, start the day at The Museums at Lisle Station Park (921 School St., Lisle) for Kids Time: Paintin’ Pumpkins. Perfect for ages 3-10, the museum will provide materials for children to decorate pumpkins at this free, family event from 10:30-11:30am.
Also on Saturday, October 5, adults will have an opportunity to get into the Halloween spirit, too, with the park district’s first ever, Adult Pumpkin Carving Contest, also held at The Museums at Lisle Station Park. Ages 21+ can show off their crafty side during pumpkin carving from 4-5:45pm, with winners announced at 6pm. $15 per adult, which includes materials for carving, pumpkin, snacks, and one alcoholic beverage. After the contest, pumpkin carvers are encouraged to stick around the museum for our annual Creature Double Feature. This free, family event will start with Beetlejuice (1988, PG) at 7pm, followed by Ghostbusters (1984, PG) at 8:30pm. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy these classic Halloween favorites on the big screen on the museum lawn.
Saturday, October 12, Lisle Park District and Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation will host the 15th annual nighttime 5K run/walk, The Scarecrow Scramble, in Community Park (1800 Short St., Lisle). The event before and after the 5K race is free to attend from 4-9pm, and will include fall activities and games, a costume contest, and bonfire. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Participants in the Tot Dash, Youth Run, and 5K must register by October 9 at noon for pre-registration (best savings), or at Lisle High School from 4-6pm on race day. For more festive, family fun, stop by the Lisle Recreation Center (1925 Ohio St., Lisle) on Saturday, October 19 from 4-7pm for Monster Madness. This autumn fair is perfect for ages 10 and under, and will feature pony rides, games, petting zoo, pumpkin patch, and much more. Don’t forget to wear your Halloween costume! The event is free to attend, but a punch card is necessary to participate in the various activities and games. Punch cards (25 punches) are $10 each.
For fans of the paranormal, The Museums at Lisle Station Park will host Museum After Dark on Saturday, October 26, from 5-8pm. Guests can enjoy a social hour from 5-6pm, with light refreshments (beer and wine available for purchase), board games from the museum’s collections, and craftworking demonstrations. At 6pm, West Suburban Paranormal Investigators will give a presentation, followed by a meet-and-greet and time to explore the museum grounds. The event is recommended for ages 13+. Tickets for Friends of the Museum are $12, $15 for regular admission pre-registered by 10/25, and $20 at the door (cash only).
