Run to Community Park for 15th Annual Scarecrow Scramble
Lisle Park District and Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation will host the 15th annual nighttime 5K run/walk in Community Park next month

Lisle, IL – Lisle Park District and Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation will host the 15th annual nighttime 5K run/walk, The Scarecrow Scramble, in Community Park next month.
Saturday, October 12, Community Park (1800 Short St., Lisle) will be bustling with fall activities from 4-9pm for The Scarecrow Scramble. In addition to the 5K race, stop by the park for games, face painting, hayrides, s’mores, a bonfire, and plenty more festive fun for the whole family. The event will also feature a costume contest, so guests of all ages are encouraged to show off their Halloween style, with judging taking place from 5-5:15pm.
After the costume contest, ages 2-4 registered for the Tot Dash will race across 50 yards on the Lisle High School Football Field at 5:30pm. Immediately following at 5:45pm, children registered for the Youth Run (ages 5-11) will take to the Community Park trails for a half mile race, leading up to the main 5K at 6:30pm. The USATF certified race will wind through the park lined with lummiaria for safety. Upon finishing the race, runners and walkers can enjoy pizza and refreshments while awards are announced from 7:30-8:30pm.

Pre-registration for the Tot Dash, Youth Run, and 5K Run/Walk is open through October 9, 2019 at noon. Those interested can register online at scarecrowscramble.com, in-person at the Lisle Recreation Center (1925 Ohio St., Lisle), or by mail. Packet pick-up will be held on Thursday, October 10 from 4-7pm at the Recreation Center. Race day registration will take place on October 12 at Lisle High School (1800 Short St., Lisle) from 4-6pm. Participants will receive a 2019 quarter-zip pullover race shirt, official chip timed bib, water, a ticket for one slice of pizza, and a ticket for one drink (beer only for participants 21+).
Funds raised through The Scarecrow Scramble will go to Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation to provide recreation scholarships to low-income families who do not have means to participate in recreation activities, and the Lisle Teens with Character Program. The Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation's purpose is to raise money through corporate and private contributions and in-kind donations. These funds are used for enriching the quality of life in the greater Lisle community by offering scholarships for families who otherwise could not afford to participate in recreation programs; contributing to the beautification of parks and protection of natural resources; supporting and enhancing community programs and promoting recreational opportunities.
