SJA Highlights the Benefits of a Faith Based Education

St. Joan of Arc has an in- house Campus Minister on Staff

St. Joan of Arc Highlights the Benefits of a Faith Based Education

(Lisle) -Although students won't return to the classrooms until the fall, now is the time to plan for your child's educational future. For parents just beginning to make decisions about preschool and Kindergarten for their young students, it's important to understand the benefits of a faith-based education.
"A faith-based education is one that takes place within the context of a person's religious beliefs," explained Barb Caruso, Campus Minister at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School. "Beginning a faith-based education early, in preschool or Kindergarten, helps lay a foundation for students that will be stronger and more long-lasting. It becomes natural to them. If you can integrate their faith into their education from the beginning, you have a much greater chance of them holding on to and fostering their faith throughout their formative years."
Caruso further explains that one of the most important benefits of a faith-based education is that everything is taught through the lens of one's religious beliefs. "What makes St. Joan of Arc a leader in providing a faith-based education for children is that its Pastor and administration have recognized that for a Catholic school to be successful in its mission, it must ensure that its Catholic culture is protected and promoted in all facets of the day," she said. "SJA parents are on board with that idea as well. St. Joan's got ahead of the curve by hiring me, a full-time Campus Minister. I am charged with identifying and meeting the spiritual needs of the school community - faculty, staff, students, and parents. St. Joan of Arc is definitely cutting edge in that regard. All Catholic high schools and colleges have a Campus Minister, but it's rare to have one at the grammar school level. St. Joan's is making a visible and tangible commitment to protecting and promoting the Catholic culture."
