What To Know, Do Before National Preparedness Month Starts

Protect DuPage shares how to plan ahead in case of a natural disaster or emergency.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — Protect DuPage and Lisle Police Department want community members to know that September is National Preparedness Month, as natural disasters can and do happen. In a Facebook post shared by the police department, Protect DuPage posted, "Please don't say, 'It won't happen here'. We'd rather you think, 'What if it does?'"

For a little push of encouragement, it may help to knowing Illinois was ranked the 5th "Most Prepared State for Natural Disasters" back in June by Gold Eagle, who ranked all 50 U.S. states on their disaster preparedness based on four key factors.
