MANHATTAN, IL — July 4th is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you this Independence Day. While Manhattan doesn't have its own fireworks show, there are several towns and communities nearby that residents can head to.

Frankfort

What: Fourth of July Celebration
Where: Main Park on Nebraska Street
When: 5 to 9:30 p.m. on July 4. Fireworks start at 9 p.m.

The celebration will have live music, kid-friendly games and concessions.

Lockport

What: Summer Fireworks Show/Independence Day Celebration
Where: Dellwood Park, at IL 171 and Woods Drive
When: July 3, show begins at dusk

Join the Lockport community at the annual summer fireworks show. Parking is limited, so car pooling is encouraged.

Mokena

What: Fourth of July Celebration
Where: Main Park, 10925 W. La Porte Road
When: Fireworks begin at dusk on July 4. DJ party from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

A DJ party in the park will be held the same night as the annual fireworks extravaganza. There will also be performances by the Encore Community Band and the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry.

New Lenox

What: New Lenox Independence Day Celebration
Where: New Lenox Village Commons
When: 6 p.m., July 4. Fireworks start at 9:15 p.m.

The celebration will have a kids zone, games and activities for kids, entertainment from Epic and the Joliet American Legion Band, before the night concludes with a fireworks display.
