Man Charged With Murder Of 81-Year-Old Mother: Police

Police said the elderly woman's body was found in her son's car in Grundy County.

MORRIS, IL — A Chicago man is charged with first-degree murder and concealing a homicidal death after police say he murdered his 81-year-old mother, who was found dead in his car in Dwight, Illinois. The Grundy County Coroner's office identified her as Juanita Holliman.

Marc Holliman, 53, was arrested Monday night around 8 p.m. in Morris, police said.

Earlier in the day, around 10:45 a.m., police in Dwight were investigating a theft from a vehicle on Northbrook Drive when they had a "brief discussion" with Holliman, who did not want any assistance and left in his car. Around 11:49 a.m., Holliman returned to Northbrook Drive and approached officers again, this time bleeding from a self-inflicted injury, police said.

Holliman was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. But before investigators left for the hospital, they found an elderly woman's body in the car he had been driving, police said. The woman was identified as Holliman's mother, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Police said her death happened on West Delaware Place in Chicago.

Holliman was taken into custody in Morris on Monday night. He was due in bond court, 2600 S. California, on Wednesday.

Charges are merely allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
