Covid-19 Temporarily Ends A 36 -Month Run of Veterans Breakfasts
Free veterans breakfasts will resume once it is safe to do so.

Thirty-six months ago, the first Free Veteran’s Breakfast was held with just seven veterans in attendance. A month later, on New Year’s Eve, 34 veterans packed the room. Since then the rest has become history with the Will & Kankakee county businesses forming their own version of the breakfast. After much thought, State Farm agent Kevin Molloy and Roadhouse 52 owner Eddie Kural made the difficult decision to suspend the veterans breakfast for the month of November until they see the Covid-19 numbers lower.
“This is one of those things keep you up at night about making the right decision,” Molloy stated. “We love the guys and we know how much they love coming together, but watching the numbers increase by 50 percent in just two weeks we just couldn’t do it. These are our walking history books that we are talking about, the World War II heroes, Korean War heroes, Vietnam heroes and Desert Storm heroes to name a few all ranging from 35-95 and we just couldn’t sponsor an event that put them in potential harm’s way. But we will be back when it’s a safer environment for the guys to enjoy one another again,” Molloy said.
Molloy and Kural already have a few guests lined up once things are up and running again. “We might start things off with a luncheon or maybe even a dinner depending on which month we’ll be able to launch again,” Kural said. “These guys are a special group and it really wore me down thinking about what was the best and safest way to go. For April through October we were able to meet out on the patio and it went really well, but with the temperature in the thirties, that is not an option. We will be back, and we will make it special for the guys,” Kural stated.
