District 114 Remote Learning Begins: Details, Feedback
A letter sent recently to families from District 114 Superintendent Rusty Ragon also provides guidance and resources for district families.
MANHATTAN, IL — In a letter to Manhattan School District 114, Superintendent Rusty Ragon said the District 114 Leadership Team will continue to monitor local metrics and updated health guidance while they carry out remote learning — which kicked off Monday. The letter sent Friday also provides guidance and resources for district families, including information about grading, expectations and routines, school lunches, extended day support, technology assistance for remote learning devices and internet, and more.
Ragon also outlined attendance and requests for recorded lessons, and said the district understands some situations may occur, including daycare situations, and some students may not be able to participate in remote learning activities during the school day.
According to Ragon, the district asks that parents and guardians contact the building principal or secretary if a student is unable to attend remote learning sessions during the school day, as their"goal is to know of these arrangements in advance for attendance reasons, and not consider your child as absent if they are committing to completing the work after school hours."

Ragon added that while a date to return to in-person learning (under Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines) hasn't been determined, the district will continue to plan for the day when they're able to return "safely and consistently."

"Great, technology worked well, kids got into all their zooms and enjoyed seeing their friends," Ferrucci wrote. "It was better than I expected. Bravo to our amazing staff for making today special in crazy times."
