MANHATTAN, IL — New local business Manhattan Crafts, which opened for the holiday season just over a month ago at 130 Market Place (near Berkot's), features over 30 local crafters and artists making all the handcrafted décor and gifts to make your holiday shopping merry and bright. Owner Amy Dudek told Patch they will be hosting a Kids Shopping Day for children in kindergarten through eighth grade to shop for gifts for their family members.

From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 5, children will be able to shop and wrap gifts for family members and those close to them with help from Manhattan Crafts volunteers.

In an effort to control the anticipated crowd, you must register for a time slot in advance with the online form, according to Dudek, who added that once the form is completed, enclose it in an envelope with cash and your child's name on it. Manhattan Crafts will have tables for gifts amounting to $5 and under, $10 and under and $20 and under. It is asked that you please sign each child up separately.

Four children will be allowed inside every 15 minutes. Parents are welcome to stay in the store if they wish, wait in the courtyard, or run errands (if you do not leave town), as the staff will call you when your child is ready. In addition, staff asks that parents and guardians please do not delay in returning as the next group of kids need to come in, and no child will be able to leave the store without a parent or guardian coming in to get them. At that time, any change will be returned to you in an envelope.
