Local Businesses Supply Pizza for VFW Warrior Walk Participants

Kevin Molloy State Farm and Pizza Mia New Lenox donated pizzas to walkers

For the past 14 years, Dave Dombrowski, the owner of Pizza Mia, and Kevin Molloy, owner of Kevin Molloy State Farm Agency, have teamed up on multiple occasions to provide support for various organizations in New Lenox. When John Forsythe, one of the organizers of the New Lenox VFW Warrior Walkers for Veterans Suicide Awareness, approached the two business owners for help with this year’s walk, they didn’t hesitate to help.

The VFW Warrior Walkers event helps bring attention to the growing number of veterans succumbing to suicide. September is Veterans Suicide Awareness month.

Molloy and Dombrowski teamed up to supply the 60 volunteers who walked on Saturday, September 19, with pizzas as their way of helping with this year’s event.

“When John approached me about the event, I knew this would be an easy one for Dave and me. Dave is one of the most generous guys I know, and I knew if John reached out to Dave explaining we could split that cost, it would be an instant yes. Dave didn’t let me down. Certain things just make sense to do and this was one of them. John and the guys from the VFW are going to build this into an enormous event over time,” Kevin Molloy said.

The event was very successful with just under $10,000 raised by the 60 walkers.
