Manhattan volunteers made a lot of birthdays special this year
Quarantine can't stop this town from showing up
Manhattan Public Works, Manhattan Police Department, Manhattan Fire Protection District, Manhattan Emergency Services and many others all volunteered their time this Spring to host over 150 quarantine birthday parades. Terry Doyle the director of the Manhattan Emergency Services with the help of John Tyk from Public works and many others, organized so many special moments for the people of our town who's birthdays were affected by the timing of Covid-19. There were forms that could be filled out up until May 31st to request a birthday parade and there were over 150 requests. These kind people volunteered their time to complete every single one of them and hundreds of residents joined in. For a few months this spring, social media was full of videos and pictures of smiling faces and people grateful for the kindness the Village of Manhattan displayed. This is another reminder of why Manhattan is such an amazing place to live.
