Manhattan Contractor Defrauded Plainfield Homeowner: Complaint

A woman paid Adam Gleason $4,000 for a fence installation in October 2018 but he didn't perform the installation, according to a complaint.

MANHATTAN, IL — A Manhattan contractor has been charged with theft and home repair fraud after never installing a Plainfield woman's fence after he was paid $4,000 to do so, according to a criminal complaint. Adam Gleason, 37, was taken into custody Wednesday and transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. He has since been released and has a court appearance scheduled for Thursday.

According to the criminal complaint filed against him, Gleason committed theft after entering into a written contract with a Plainfield woman to install a fence at her home. The woman paid Gleason $4,000 for a fence installation in October 2018 but he didn't perform the installation, according to a complaint.

The written contract was for $8,000 total, according to the criminal complaint.

According to his LinkedIn page, Gleason is a fence and railing contractor at Peerless Fencing.
