Manhattan Dental Care’s 8th Annual Candy Buy Back

Manhattan Dental Care Buying Back Candy Again This Year

Manhattan Dental Care’s 8th Annual Candy Buy Back

Children love collecting candy at Halloween, but we all know it can be bad for their teeth. Laura Aversano, D.D.S. and owner of Manhattan Dental Care knows that too, which is why every year she provides children a great opportunity to help their teeth, help soldiers – and get some money in the process.

This is the eighth year Manhattan Dental is hosting its Annual Candy Buy Back. On Nov. 7, 2017, from 3 to 7:30 p.m. at Manhattan Dental Care, 175 S. State Street, in Manhattan, children may donate their Halloween candy and receive a $1 per pound of candy plus entry in a raffle for a $50 gift card. The candy donations are sent to Operation Care Package that supports military troops. There is a limit of five entries per person and children must be accompanied by an adult.

The impact of the Candy Buy Back extends beyond Operation Care Package. Different groups such as the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, and the Blue Crew at Manhattan Junior High have donated candy and then used the funds to support different community causes. “The Boy Scouts used the money for food pantry donations, the Girl Scouts did a family sponsorship, and the Blue Crew donated wreaths for the Abraham Lincoln Cemetery, all with the money they received from the Candy Buy Back,” Dr. Aversano said.

If you have a group that wants to donate, you must contact Manhattan Dental Care in advance at (815) 478-7788.

“Last year we collected over 1,000 pounds of candy, and we are excited to be able to offer the candy buy back again and support our military troops and our community in the process,” Dr. Aversano said. “This community project has grown so much over the years and my staff and I are excited to do it again.” In addition to sending the candy, Dr. Aversano sent 1000 toothbrushes and toothpaste for the troops.
