Manhattan Native Breaks Pole Vault Record At Marquette

Joel Swanberg cleared 5.00 meters last weekend, an all-time best jump for Marquette University.

MANHATTAN, IL - Joel Swanberg, a Manhattan native and Lincoln-Way Central High School alum, is the new pole vault all-time record holder for Marquette University. Swanberg cleared 5.00 meters (16-4.75 feet) and claimed the win at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet on Saturday, according to Marquette sports information.

In addition to breaking the school record, the clear was a lifetime best for Swanberg. It also gained him the top spot in the Big East Conference in the event.

Swanberg, who was also named the Big East Track and Field Player of the Week after pulling off the feat, is a senior who competes in hurdles and pole vault for the Golden Eagles.
