Manhattan Veterans Day 2020: What's Open, Closed
Most banks, government offices and public schools in Manhattan will be closed Wednesday.
MANHATTAN, IL — Veterans Day is Nov. 11, which falls on a Wednesday this year. The national holiday was established in 1926 to honor men and women who have served in the military.
To honor those veterans, many places around the country will be closed.

Manhattan Village Hall: Village hall will be closed Wednesday in observance of Veterans Day.
Manhattan School District 114: The district will be open; there will all be a school board meeting starting at 5:30 p.m. (For details, click here)

The following places will be open at the business owner's discretion:

- Convenience Stores
- Liquor stores
- Retail stores (check with your local retailers first)

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Day commemorates Armistice Day -- the day when World War I hostilities ended between the Allies and Germany. Veterans Day is officially observed on Nov. 11, regardless of which day it falls.
