Meet Manhattan Village Trustee Candidate James Reeves

MANHATTAN, IL — The upcoming election is less than two weeks away, and early voting has already started. In Manhattan, one of the contested local races is the race for village trustee. There are three open spots on the board in the upcoming election on April 2. James Reeves is one of the five candidates running for a position.

Reeves lives in Manhattan with his wife and son. He has a Masters degree in public administration. He works as a service coordinator for early intervention.

Reeves has served as a village trustee in Manhattan for five years and has also been a board member at a library.

Reeves believes the the most pressing issue facing the board is "no waste of village funds."

"...We communicate with our financial manager and I ask many questions to make sure our tax money is being used well," he said.

If he is re-elected, he said will continue to make good decisions for residents.

"[I will] bring more business to help our town keep taxes low and work at Manhattan on tap to help groups make money for their fundraising," he said.

There are three open positions on the Manhattan village board in the April 2 election. The other candidates are incumbents Erin McDonough and Michael Naughton, and newcomers Robert Dilling and Howard Young.
