Molloy State Farm Sponsoring Fun Day Fireworks

Kevin Molloy State Farm is excited to be one of the sponsors for the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Fun Day Fireworks display scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020, at the Metra train station parking lot in Manhattan.

The idea to help sponsor this community event came about during the Molloy Team’s November 2019 fall planning session. At that meeting, they agreed to attempt to raise funds for the 2020 Manhattan Fun Day Fireworks display. This event has a long history of doing fireworks as part of the town’s Labor Day weekend. In recent years, it has become a struggle to get the expense covered through donations. In 2019 a large donation came through Whitmore Ace Hardware which helped put the Chamber over the top.

“In 2020 we wanted to be that team that stepped up to help make this happen,” stated Kim O’Neill, Molloy’s sales and social media liaison. “Manhattan has been a big part of our lives and we wanted to do something big in return.” The Molloy team, with the help of several Chamber members, raised $3,500.00 in just over sixty days and the rest is history.

Kevin Molloy, who has lived in Manhattan for 35 years, remembers each and every Fun Day and how much joy it brought to his children. “It’s been an interesting year to say the least and the recent school setbacks just added to that so it’s my hope that at dusk on Sunday, September 6th when the families see the fireworks going off in the Metra parking lot, they’ll have a bit of an opportunity to exhale.”
