Public Hearing Planned For Village Of Manhattan: Details

The public hearing will give those interested a chance to discuss the proposed Rebuild Illinois Public Infrastructure Grant projects.

MANHATTAN, IL — The Village of Manhattan said they will be holding a public hearing at 6:30 p.m., June 23 in the Village of Manhattan council chambers and via video conference to provide those interested an opportunity to share their views on the proposed Rebuild Illinois Public Infrastructure Grant projects. According to Village documents, the Village said they intend to apply to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for grants from the Rebuild Illinois program, which is funded by state funds included in the 2019 Capital Bills. According to the Village, the funds are to be used for community development projects, including Well No. 7 Rehabilitation and Water Treatment Plant, and Route 52 Sanitary Sewer and Water Main extension.

According to the Village, the amount of Rebuild Illinois funds being requested are $4,188,090 and $811,910. In addition, the Village proposes to expend $1,070,140 in non-Rebuild Illinois funds on the project, adding that these funds will be derived from the Village's Capital Fund.

Information related to this project can be reviewed before the public hearings starting Sunday at the Village of Manhattan Village Hall between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and on the Village website.
