Tier 3 Mitigations In Manhattan: More Details From Park District
The Manhattan Park District said the following will start Friday for the duration of the new Tier 3 Mitigations in Illinois.
MANHATTAN, IL — The Manhattan Park District announced Wednesday further details on how the state's new Tier 3 Mitigations will impact local programs and operations. The park district said after they reviewed the new Tier 3 Mitigations announced Tuesday, the following will start Friday for the duration of the mitigations, and the goal is to return to in-person programming as quickly as possible as mitigations allow:
- All in-person programs will now take place virtually or, if at all possible, outdoors when weather allows.
- For outdoor programs, face masks are required at all times.
- Program participants will be notified by Park District staff with any updates to programs they are enrolled in.
- In accordance with state guidelines we will hold Camp Coyote 2.0 as long as federal and state guidelines allow and as long as we can do so safely and responsibly.
- The Hansen Community Center will be closed effective Friday, November 20 until the state lifts current restrictions. Online registration remains open and Park District staff is available via email and phone.
- No rentals are allowed.
The park district also reminded residents that parks and open space remain open, and to please take advantage of Manhattan’s parks for socially distanced family outings and hikes.

The park district added that at this time playgrounds also remain open, but are not disinfected and advise that visitors use playgrounds at their own risk.
"Spending time outdoors in parks is an excellent stress reliever and a scientifically proven method for lowering stress hormone levels, decreasing blood pressure and improving mood," the park district said, in a news release.

The Park District added that it will continue to serve the community with programming and holiday cheer while adhering to the state guidelines and keeping in mind what is best for the health and wellness of our community.
