5 Things to Do in Mokena this Week

Coming up with week:

  • A CPR class with the Mokena Fire Protection District will be held from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Mokena Fire Station 1.
  • Join the Walking Book Club at the Mokena Library from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday. The club meets at the Oaks Indoor Walking Track. The program includes 30 minutes of walking followed by a 30-minute discussion.
  • Mokena School District 159 will host a Parent Academy at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the MES board room. The topic is "Strategies to Support Your Child with Anxiety."
  • The Village of Mokena will have its annual spring clean up from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Bring your family, friends, neighbors, teammates, or scout groups, and join your Village Board and Staff. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Please bring work gloves. A free lunch of hot dogs, chips, pop and water will be held at the village hall after the clean up. The Salvation Army will also be on-site to collect donations.
  • Singer Cal Starr will perform at the Mokena Library at 1 p.m. Saturday. Starr will sing many of the songs of the silver screen cowboys such as Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. You will hear some of the greatest Cowboy songs of all times, from the classic "Home on the Range" to his newer song "Born to the Saddle." Registration is required for this free program.
