Boy, 2, Found Wandering Wolf Road in Mokena

Residents were awakened around 3 a.m. to police knocking at their doors trying to find the boy's family.

MOKENA, IL — A Mokena police officer early Saturday morning came across something strange—a 2-year-old boy moseying along Wolf Road, all alone.

Police found the boy around 2:45 a.m. near Pioneer Cemetery, and went door-to-door with his photo in an attempt to identify him and find his parents. DCFS was contacted as they searched for the boy's family. Two hours later, they located a resident who knew the child from his interactions with her son, and the boy was reunited with his family. Police did not disclose the names of those involved.

The boy reportedly woke in the middle of the night, walked out of his room, unlocked a deadbolt and left the house, said Mokena Police Chief Steve Vaccaro.
