D159 Residency Verification Changes

District 159 is implementing a few changes this year.

District 159 is implementing new procedures for checking residency. The new procedures require parents to complete the residency verification process when a family first enrolls in District 159 and then again when students enter Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, and 6th grades. All families who rent their place of residence or reside with another person and do not have a lease must complete the residency verification process every year, regardless of the grade of their child(ren).

Online registration for the 2020-2021 school year will begin on Monday, May 4. Online registration must be completed by all families so that the district can assign a classroom teacher for students in grades Pre-K through 5 or create a schedule for students in grades 6 though 8. Families will also be asked to consider their transportation options when completing the registration process. Additional information about the online registration process will be provided soon.

The district has scheduled an all-day residency verification event from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29 at MES.

It is important to note that parents will not receive their child’s assigned teacher or class schedule until the residency verification (for students new to D159 and entering grades 2, 4, and 6) AND online registration processes (all grades) are completed.
