Firecracker Dance Returns To Mokena

Mokena Lions Club brings back 33rd annual event to Front Street.

MOKENA, IL. — Mokena Lions Club is ready to rock the night away again this year with the return of its 33rd annual Firecracker Dance in the Mokena Metra lot on Front Street from 5:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. July 17. Gates open at 5 p.m. Entry to the event is restricted to adults ages 21 and over.

The evening is scheduled to kick off with live music by Midnight, followed by Johnny Russler & The Beach Bum Band at 9:30 p.m. Food will be available from Aurelio's on Wolf Road, Jimbooo's Italian Beef and Nothing Bundt Cake. Visitors can wet their whistle with beverages at Margaritaville, or enjoy locally crafted beer from area brewers. Beer crafters can request a spot by emailing the Mokena Lions Club at mokenalionsclub@att.net.

Proceeds from the event will go toward local and national donations to programs that promote hearing and vision screenings, as well as programs to help battle hunger, said Mokena Lions Club Past President Robin Urbaszewski.

"One hundred percent of proceeds go back in the form of donations to the community," he said.

Tickets for the event are $10 in advance or $15 at the gate. Those who have already purchased raffle tickets can use those as their entry tickets to the event. Grand prize for the raffle is $2,500; 2nd prize is $1,000; 3rd prize is $500; and $100 each for 4th-8th prize.
