Holiday Lights Displays Sought For Mokena Park District Contest

MOKENA, IL - The deadline to register your home's holiday lights display in the annual contest held by the Mokena Park District is fast approaching. It's free to enter, but the registration deadline is just a week away on Monday, Dec. 10.

Judging for the contest will take place between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 and Dec. 13.

Displays must be lit during that time. Contestants do not need to be present during the judging, which will be based on creativity, originality, theme, musical effects, lighting and overall layout.

Decorations by professionals won't be allowed.

The winners will be notified on Dec. 14.
