The Phoenix rose from the ashes of a scary first half. Down 23-2, it looked like Lincoln-Way North would have a disappointing opener on the home field. But the players would not give up and they rallied back to win 30-29. LW East and LW Central both lost, while LW West won. Check more local scores on the Southland Scoreboard.

BIG PLAYS: Quarterback Jaylin Branch threw for 163 yards and ran for 65. North scored four touchdowns in the second half. Richards scored a touchdown on the final play of the game but could not make good on the two-point conversion.
