MJHS Student Earns State Championship At Track And Field Finals

Mia Zenere and Renick Miller both qualified for the state finals and competed at the event.

MOKENA, IL — A Mokena Junior High School athlete won a state championship at the track and field state finals earlier this month. Two MJHS athletes qualified for the IESA State Track and Field Meet, which was held May 17-18 in East Peoria.

Mia Zenere and Renick Miller both qualified for the state finals. Zenere finished first of 24 in the girls high jump (5-00). She also participated in the 100-meter hurdles (18.20 seconds) and finished 25th out of 29 in the preliminaries.

Miller participated in the 110-meter hurdles and finished ninth out of 31 with a time of 17.45 seconds in the preliminaries. The first place runner had a time of 16.58 seconds.
