Mokena 159 Referendum Forums

Two last meetings before the April 2 ballot will be held this month.

The Mokena School District Board of Education unanimously approved the placement of a referendum question on the April 2, 2019 ballot. Although it must be called a limiting rate increase, this referendum will not increase the amount of taxes currently being paid (assuming your home value does not increase). If approved, the funds currently being collected to pay of the bonds for the construction of Mokena Junior High School will be re-purposed for necessary improvements, repairs, and enhancements at all district facilities (e.g., roofs, parking lots, security upgrades, and HVAC systems).

Several community forum meetings have been held and there are still two more opportunities for community members to learn more and ask questions about the proposed referendum . Both of the remaining meetings will be held at the Mokena School District office:

  • Thursday, March 14 at 9:00 am
  • Thursday, March 21 at 6:30 pm

Questions regarding the April 2nd referendum can be emailed to superintendent@mokena159.org or you can call 708-342-4900.
