Mokena July 4th Fireworks, Parades and More: 2018 Guide

Here's your complete guide to Fourth of July fireworks shows, parades and other festive events in and near Mokena.

MOKENA, IL - A full day of celebration is planned for the Fourth of July in Mokena, which boasts one of the best Independence Day celebrations in the south suburbs.

The fun starts at 10 a.m. with the Mokena Fourth Of July Parade. This year's parade theme is "200 Years of Amazing Things in Illinois," in honor of the Illinois Bicentennial. Sponsored by the Mokena Chamber of Commerce, the parade starts at the intersection of Wolf and LaPorte roads and continues north to Granite Drive.

Later in the day, a 4th Of July Party is planned to begin at 5 p.m. at Mokena Main Park, 10925 W. LaPorte Road. Food, inflatable bounce houses, a mechanical bulldog ride, a Reptile Show, face painters and balloon artists will be on hand for the party, which will also have a children's stage and games.

Music planned for the event includes the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry Re-enactment at 6:30 p.m. and an Encore Concert Band at 7:30 p.m.

A fireworks display will follow the party at around 9 p.m.
