Mokena Junior High Students Participate In State Music Contest
The virtual contest was an opportunity for band, orchestra, and chorus students to pursue musical interests unique to them.
MOKENA, IL — Several Mokena Junior High School students recently participated in the Illinois Grade School Music Association solo and ensemble contest, according to the district. The virtual contest was an opportunity for band, orchestra, and chorus students to pursue musical interests unique to them and to work with their teacher to select and prepare repertoire individually and/or in small groups.
The district said students had until late October to upload a video of themselves playing their selected piece for the judges.
The students who participated in the contest were: Leo Bencic - violin, Ava Bischof - vocal, Isabelle Faber - clarinet, Logan Grant - tenor saxophone, Kate Hough - vocal, Nicole Leser - vocal, Breanna Maves - flute, Connor Maves - trombone, Jacob Mitchell - tuba, Judah Mullin - piano, Keira O’Connor - clarinet, Elizabeth Taussig - piano and saxophone, Paul Taussig - trumpet, Caroline Howey and Alexandria Ludwig - percussion duet.
