Mokena Now Accepting Applications for Police Officer

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Mokena is now accepting applications for police officer.

Applicants must take the mandatory written test on June 11, 2016, at Mokena Jr. High School, 19815 Kirkstone Way. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., testing begins at 9 a.m. 

Starting salary for a police officer in the village of 19,000 people is $57,858. Additional information will be provided in the application packet which can be downloaded from the Cops and Fire Testing website. The application deadline is May 26. 

In case you aren't aware of the requirements, here's what you need to know:

• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Driver’s License: Must have a valid Driver’s License
• Age Requirements: Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday; or 20 if you have successfully completed two years of law enforcement study at an accredited college or university and be under the age of 35 years old at the last date of filing applications. (5/26/16) unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1.
• Education: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) AND an Associate Degree from an Accredited College or University. (North Central Association of Colleges and Schools)
• Character: Must have no felony convictions and possess good moral character suitable to the role of a law enforcement officer.
• Testing: Must be able to participate and successfully complete all stages of the testing process
• P.O.W.E.R. Card: Must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between the dates of 5/26/15 and 5/26/16 (NIPSTAwww.nipsta.org, Triton www.triton.edu/power or Joliet Junior College 815-280-2674 or must provide a copy of Basic Law Enforcement Training Course certificate)
