“Over the past couple of months, drones borrowed from Orland Park have played a key role in at least two cases in which the [police department] was called into action,” according to a press release issued by the Village. “Chief McCarthy says the two drones purchased will be smaller models with thermal imaging and enhanced optics features.”

The drones will cost the Village less than $10,000, according to the press release. The Village will use asset forfeiture funds to purchase the equipment.
