“The launch site, which was used last year for the fireworks, will offer the majority of the residents of the community of almost 21,000 the opportunity to view the display in person, or alternatively, from the safety of their own front porch or back deck,” stated a press release issued by the Village. “Gates to the Hickory Creek Metra lot, which is located directly south of the launch site, will open at 7 p.m. A limited amount of portable toilets will be available on-site for use by viewers. In addition, there are a considerable number of restaurants situated in the immediate area, some of which are expected to host viewing packages complete with food and beverage.”
A livestream of the event is expected to be available on the Village’s website at www.mokena.org.

“As always, conducting a fireworks celebration is dependent on the weather,” the press release stated. “If a weather event occurs which could cause the show to be canceled or postponed, the Village will provide that information to the public via its ‘Community Alerts’ mass notification system.”
