MOKENA, IL — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at NAWS Humane Society of Illinois. This week's adoptable pet is Phoenix, who is available for adoption at the humane society.
Phoenix is a 2 and a half-year-old brown tabby male, who was rescued from a kill shelter in Kansas. The society said he first came to NAWS very scared and unsure of human interactions.
Phoenix now enjoys gentle pets and is receptive to attention. The society said he needs a patient owner who will go slow with him and give him time to trust.

Phoenix has been waiting a full year to find his new home, the society said. He is FIV positive, so he will need to live as the only cat, with other FIV positive cats or possibly with other non-aggressive cats.
You can email Delonda at delonda@Nawsus.org or call NAWS at 708-478-5102 to set up an appointment with an adoption counselor to meet him.
