No Headlights at Night Leads to DUI Arrest: Blotter

A Lockport man first denied drinking but then admitted to doing so before driving, according to a Mokena Police report.

A Lockport man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled him over for driving without his headlights on at night.

Robert J. Golden, 42, of the 17800 block of South Mitchell Lane in Lockport, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without headlights turned on.

On Dec. 15, a Mokena police officer was driving east on 191st Street near 104th Avenue when a truck was seen driving west without headlights on around 1:50 a.m. The officer also saw the truck weave slightly in its lane and pulled it over, according to the report. The driver, Golden, said he didn’t know that his headlights were off, the truck’s inside smelled like alcohol, police said.

He denied drinking at first but then admitted to drinking earlier in the night, according to the report.

Golden failed field sobriety tests, refused to take a Breathalyzer test and was arrested, police said.
