Makayla Fortson is a 6th grader at Noonan Elementary Academy in Mokena and has been selected by her teacher, Mrs. Huguelet, as this week's Standout Student. Congratulations Makayla and to the Fortson family.

What is one essential you must have when studying?
One essential I need is light, so I can see when I am studying

What do you like to do when not in school or studying?
I like to hang out with my friends or maybe go shopping

What is your dream job?
I am not sure what I want to be when I grow up just yet

What are some of your most played songs on your iPod?
I like to listen to happy songs that make me feel happy

What is one thing people don't know about you?
I like to have fun and I’m a funny person

Whom do you look up to and why?
I look up to my parents, because they teach me about life and God

What do you keep under your bed?
I keep board games under my bed that I really don’t use much, or things will fall under my bed

Who is your favorite teacher and why?
I have a lot of great teachers, but my favorites are Mrs. Hurt and Mrs. Hugugelet, because they are nice , sweet people, and Mrs. Huguelet is so funny

What is your favorite class and why?
I like science class, because you can learn about nature and the world around you

What's one thing that stands out about your school?
I think our uniforms stand out because they have a very different colors, patterns, and so much more

What extracurricular(s) do you wish your school had?
I really don’t think Noonan needs anymore extra things added its already an amazing school

What's your morning routine?
I wake up and get ready for the day. I bath, brush my teeth, walk my dog and I sometimes have a little breakfast before I go, even though I’m not really a huge fan of breakfast

If you could change one thing about school what would it be?
I don’t think that I would change anything

What's your favorite thing to eat in the cafeteria?
I don’t really like cafeteria food, but if I do eat from there, I would have a sandwich or a salad

What's your best memory from school?
My favorite memory from school is when I first met all my friends, they are so nice
