Amir Halloway is a 6th grader at Noonan Elementary Academy in Mokena and has been selected by his teacher, Mr. Evers, as this week's Standout Student. Congratulations Amir and to the Halloway family.

What is one essential you must have when studying?

One essential is to stay organized

What do you like to do when not in school or studying?

I love to play with my favorite game, the Nintendo Switch

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to be an artist

What are some of your most played songs on your iPod?

I don’t have an iPod, but the songs I play on my mom’s iPod are “One Love”, “Wait for You”, “Trip”, “Stay with Me”, and “I’m a Winner”

What is one thing people don't know about you?

One thing that people don’t know about me is that I do chores at home

Whom do you look up to and why?

I look up to God, my parents, and my teachers. I look up to God because He always guides me, and I try my best to get to Heaven. I look up to my parents because they care about me and provide lots of food and water so I can eat. They also teach me responsibility as I get older. Also, I look up to teachers because they teach me lots of interesting things. They even try to help me if I’m having trouble with something

What do you keep under your bed?

Nothing

Who is your favorite teacher and why?

The teachers I’ve met are all my favorites, but my most favorite teacher is Mr. Evers because he is nice and respectful. He even teaches me lots of interesting things about the world such as Ghana, Mali, and Songhai

What is your favorite class and why?

My favorite class is English and Writing because I love to learn how to classify types of sentences. For writing, I love to write paragraphs.

What's one thing that stands out about your school?

Going to Mass is one thing that makes Noonan special. We all gather and sing my favorite songs and pray.

What extracurricular(s) do you wish your school had?

Some activities like badminton, soccer, and football are what I wish the school had

What's your morning routine?

My morning routine is to wake up, brush my teeth, eat breakfast, and log into Zoom

If you could change one thing about school what would it be?

I’d change the school by combining the Junior High and Elementary school into one whole building

What's your favorite thing to eat in the cafeteria?

My favorite thing to eat in the cafeteria is potato chips

What's your best memory from school?

My best memories from school are typing in the lab, drawing in the Art room, Soles for Souls, and Behavior Chart from 2nd grade
