Pedestrian Struck By Train In Mokena: Metra

All inbound and outbound train movement has been stopped due to the incident, and Metra said to expect extensive delays.

MOKENA, IL — A pedestrian has been struck by a train near Mokena, according to a tweet from Metra Rock Island. All inbound and outbound train movement has been stopped due to the incident.

Metra said extensive delays are anticipated.

Metra spokesperson Meg Reile told Patch the incident happened at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Passengers were taken off the train and taken to the Mokena station or the New Lenox station.

The Mokena Police Department also sent out a notification to residents saying the Metra Police Department was investigating a "crash" at the Francis Road and Front Street crossing.

Front Street will be closed to all traffic west of Wolf Road and Francis Road will be closed to all traffic from Brightway to 115th Avenue for the next few hours, according to the notification from police. Drivers should use alternate routes.
