Prescription Drop-Off Event Set For April 24
Medications will be disposed of safely by the Mokena Police Department.
Do you have large quantities of expired, unused, or otherwise unwanted prescription drugs in your medicine cabinet? If so, don’t throw them in the trash or flush them down the toilet.
You can dispose of them safely and conveniently without even leaving Mokena.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this coming Saturday, April 24, the Mokena Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are together giving you the opportunity to rid your home of these potentially dangerous medications.
You can participate by bringing your medications for disposal to the Mokena Police Department (10907 Front Street). Simply remove pills, capsules, and tablets from their containers and place them in zip-lock baggies. Multiple prescriptions may be placed in one baggie.

Blister-packed medications will be accepted in their original packaging.
Please note: No needles or syringes will be accepted.
Saturday’s drop-off is available to you at no cost, and you may retain your anonymity. No registration is required, nor will any questions be asked of you.

The Mokena Police Department accepts expired, unused, or otherwise unwanted prescription drugs Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in its own lobby drop-off box.
