Registration Opens For Mokena Halloween Decorating Contest

Creative Mokena families are sought once again for the "House of Frights" contest held by the Park District.

MOKENA, IL - Creative Mokena families are sought once again to be part of the "House of Frights" Halloween house decorating contest. Registration has opened for this yearly contest organized by the Mokena Park District.

To enter your home in the contest, call the Park District's administration office at 708-390-2401 by Friday, Oct. 5. Judging will take place between 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10 and Thursday, Oct. 11. Homeowners do not need to be present for their display to be judged.

Winners will be decided based on creativity, originality, theme, musical effects, lighting and overall layout, according to a Mokena Park District news release. Their will be two categories, "Amateur Ogres" (for those who have not won a prize previously) or "Master Monsters" (for those who have won in the past).

Winners will be announced on Sunday Oct. 14 at Halloween Hollow on the Mokena Main Park Main Stage at 1:30 p.m.
