Students Can Shovel Hydrants For Community Service In Mokena

One hour of community service will be given per hydrant or per driveway, the fire district said.

MOKENA, IL — If you're a student looking for community service hours, you can help out the community by shoveling snow around the fire hydrants or by removing snow for older adults.

According to the Mokena Fire Protection District, many of the fire hydrants have been covered in snow, and older adults may need assistance removing snow from their driveways in walkways.

To get the community service hours, students can submit before and after pictures to the fire district, as well as some contact information. One hour of community service will be given per hydrant or per driveway, the fire district said.
