Police Chief John Keating and the Mokena Village Board took time recently to recognize good police work as Chief Keating shared numerous awards given recently to sworn public safety officers serving the Mokena community and surrounding areas.

Among the awards were the following:

– Detective Darin McVicker was awarded for Distinguished Duty and Detective Stephen Chlebek for Exceptional Duty in connection with a high-profile graffiti case that was brought to a quick close. – Patrol Officers James Payne and Greg Selin earned Life-Saving Awards for saving the life of a heroin overdose victim.  Officer Selin has now earned such an award three times, while Officer Payne has earned it twice. – Patrol Officer Robert Henschel was awarded a Distinguished Duty award for the arrest of two male subjects wanted for armed robbery cases in the City of Chicago.  Officer Henschel’s attention to duty and arrest was vital in identification and prosecution in the Chicago Police Department’s armed robbery investigations. – Detectives McVicker and Chlebek were recognized with Distinguished Duty in the arrest of a homicide suspect.  In the same homicide case, Patrol Officers Pete Stanglewicz, Lawrence McKenna, Michael Moscato, and Caitlin Wynn were honored with Exceptional Duty awards.
