Elderly Man Takes Driver's Test, Plows Into DMV Building
A car accident at the Naperville DMV left broken window, no injuries.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A driver’s test went awry Tuesday afternoon when an elderly man backed into the window of the Naperville Department of Motor Vehicles. No one was transported for injuries, according to Officer Officer Steve Schindlbeck. The man was taking his driver’s test in a blue Chevy Equinox when he hit the reverse gear instead of drive, thrusting him and a DMV employee through the front window of the Secretary of State facility at 931 W. 75th St.
Neither of them were injured, as the vehicle had just started moving and wasn't going that fast, Schindlbeck said. He confirmed that all units had cleared the area by at least 2:45 p.m.
The Secretary of State suite 145 is temporarily closed while repairs are being made but reopened Wednesday morning.
