Man Fatally Struck By Car While Changing Tire: Naperville Police

The 26-year-old pulled his car over on 75th street to make the repairs. Police are looking for information.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A man changing his tire on the side of the road was fatally struck by another driver Tuesday morning. Naperville police responded to the scene at 75th Street and Fort Hill Drive at 12:01 a.m. The victim, a 26-year-old man from Itasca, pulled his blue, 2004 Kia Optima to the side of the road to change his tire. A 28-year-old driver of a black Subaru Impreza, from Millington, was heading east on 75th Street toward Book Road when the impact occurred.

The 26-year-old was taken to Edward Hospital where he succumb to his injuries, police said. Naperville’s Traffic Unit reconstructed the scene to investigate further, which resulted in road closures until 4 a.m. No charges or citations have been issued because the accident is still under investigation.
