Naperville Home Sales Up Slightly in September Compared to 2012

The 135 single, detached homes sold in Naperville during September 2013 represented a 9.8 percent increase over September 2012, when 123 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

There were 187 homes sold in Naperville during August.

As the number of homes sold increased in Naperville, the median home price also increased slightly. The median price increased 4.6 percent to $402,500 from $385,000 in September 2012, according to the statistics.

In DuPage County, Burr Ridge experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year. Burr Ridge also had the greatest percentage increase in median sales price, up 61.4 percent. 

According to Michael Parent, president of MORe and Vice President of Operations for Burnet Title’s Chicago Region, some communities have a stable inventory while others are "buffeted by influxes of distressed properties." 

“Activity has been sporadic in many markets,” said Parent in a news release. “Some brokers are swamped, then slow, then swamped again the next month."
