Naperville Property Taxes Among Most Burdensome In U.S.

NAPERVILLE, IL --- Naperville recently landed in the top 10 of a nationwide roundup of cities with the most burdensome property taxes. On the report from SmartAsset ranked localities where property tax had the biggest impact on housing costs, Naperville came in 8th in the nation.
According to the study, Naperville property owners pay nearly 30 percent of their housing costs in property taxes. The median annual cost of housing for residents in Naperville was measured at $31,104. Of these annual costs an average of $9,299 went to property taxes.
Naperville nearly took the top spot in the state for burdensome property taxes, but was edged out by Evanston. Naperville and Evanston were the only Illinois cities represented in the top 10 places with burdensome property taxes in the U.S. The other spots went to cities in New York and New Jersey.
