Suburb Named One Of Safest Cities In America

NAPERVILLE, IL --- A Chicago suburb was recently named among one of the safest cities in the U.S., according to a recent study. Naperville took the #5 spot on SmartAsset's list of the Safest Cities in America, which weighed such factors as crime rates, traffic death rates, and air quality.

The study also considered overdoses from drugs, the number of people in the city who commute to work alone, and the number of residents who drink excessively.

Naperville, which came in at third last year, came in slightly lower this year because of "poor air quality and fairly high rates of excessive drinking," SmartAsset writes in its report.

Naperville ranked fourth among the top cities in the categories of violent crime and property crime rates. The city has made the list of safest cities multiple times and SmartAsset comments that it is "hard to beat" in terms of low crime rates.
