American Legion Thanksgiving "Adopt a Sailor" Navy Day

Greetings Neighbors!

It's that time of the year again where you have a chance to support in a very direct way our US Navy sailors right here in our own community. Each year, several of our neighbors join us and they always walk away grateful for the experience of spending time with those who are on their way to defend our nation!

If you would like to donate, please see the donation address and contact the end. This event is put on by your local American Legion Post #134 located at 6144 W. Dempster, Morton Grove.

On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, the Morton Grove American Legion Post 134 will be celebrating their 12th annual Adopt a Sailor Navy Day on Thanksgiving

We will host 50 recruits from Great Lakes. They should arrive by 8:30 a.m. by bus. They will be greeted by Legion members, village officials, friends, and whomever else wishes to greet them and thank them for their service. There will be refreshments donated by legion members, friends, and
local merchants. They will be served a full Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.

Entertainment will be available along with nationwide long distance and international phone service all day long, compliments of AT&T. Computers will also be available. They will have the opportunity to talk and email their loved ones throughout the day. After graduation many of these young men and women will be sent into harms way. The day’s events will be filmed and a DVD will be sent to their families.

We owe them a thank you for their service. Let’s show them a beautiful day to remember. We also contribute to and support other veteran and active military activities with our donations.

We take pride in entertaining our troops each year. We want to continue to support them if they should fall victim in harms way.
