An Hiawatha line train struck a car near the Edgebrook station Thursday morning, causing extensive delays.

CHICAGO — A collision between a car and an Amtrak train from Milwaukee briefly halted trains on Metra's Milwaukee District North line Thursday morning. Shortly before 8 a.m., a train struck a car near the Edgebrook station near the intersection of Caldwell and Devon avenues, according to Amtrak. When trains began moving again, inbound and outbound Metra trains were both operating with delays of up to 30 minutes.

There were 150 people aboard the train at the time of the crash and no reported injuries. The train struck the bumper of a vehicle obstructing the tracks, according to an Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari. The train from Milwaukee to Chicago was delayed about 50 minutes, and a train from Chicago to Milwaukee was delayed about another 40 minutes.
